Minimize Large Pores
Ok, So! Everyone has pores but they are not always visible to the naked eye. However, those with oily or blemish-prone skin tend to have more visible enlarged pores. This common concern that can contribute to skin with a rough, uneven appearance; is an absolute NO NO!
Here’s a myth I also want to bust in this article. Your pores do not shrink nor do they open and close! They expand and contract based on congestion, sebaceous filament, and other elements they may absorb. You can, however, make them appear smaller. Let me tell you how! You’ll also explore some of our top skincare products and treatments for managing enlarged pores. Keep reading; let me “school you in skin”.
The majority of what is associated with large pores is your Skin Type; Find your skin type: CLICK HERE!
Someone with oily skin typically has larger pores than someone with drier skin. Excessive oiliness may also contribute to blemishes which can expand the pores from congestion, sebaceous filament, and make them appear more prominent. But your skin type isn’t the only factor that can influence how large your pores appear: factors like genetics & age also play a role. As you get older, your skin loses its elasticity. Over time, this loss of elasticity can cause your skin to sag, making your pores appear more prominent.
So enough with all the small talk let’s get into what you came here for! here’s some tips that I deem to be essential to keeping your pores less visible as possible.
Tip #1:
Cleanse tone and hydrate your skin AT LEASt 3 times a day.
I know this may seem like overkill but it worked for me well. Most people have the cleansing routine down to being consistent morning and night now but that extra mid-day cleanse after you get home from work is necessary. Congestion and oiliness can make your pores appear more prominent. We recommend cleansing, toning, & moisturizing 3 times daily with a face wash suitable for your skin type; If you want a general all-over daily cleanser our ESSENTIAL CLEANSER is a great option to get rid of the guesswork. Our PURIFYING CLEANSER wash with Activated Charcoal and DMAE provides a deep clean, removing dirt and excess oil without stripping the skin while still helping the elasticity in the skin. With regular use, the gentle cleanser helps to visibly minimize pores for smoother, healthier-looking skin over time. To use it, dispense a small amount of the creamy cleanser onto clean fingertips and massage the formula over your skin, avoiding your eye area. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat your skin dry with a clean towel before continuing your skincare routine.
Tip #2:
Include retinol in your skin regimen.
There’s a good reason for retinols holy-grail status in the skincare world: This powerful ingredient can help with a wide range of skin concerns, from fine lines, wrinkles, to unevenness skin tone, to enlarged pores. If you’re looking to address large pores with retinol, reach for our PRO RETINOL SERUM. Our serum is formulated to improve the appearance of fine lines, tone, hydrate, soften, and revitalize the skin. This serum provides the skin with a needed boost of Coenzyme Q10 (helping to support the production of collagen fighting signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles). It’s extremely gentle and In fact; the serum is suitable for all skin types and safe for daily use—even for retinol newbies. Apply it to your face and neck once daily to help reduce wrinkles, firm the skin, and visibly minimize pores with regular use.
Global Beauty Tip: If you’re using any retinol products, SPF IS NON NEGOTIABLE. Look for a lightweight, non-comedogenic SPF to help reduce the risk of clogged pores and breakouts.
Tip #3:
Keep Your Skin Hydrated
People with oily skin tend to skip moisturizer out of fear that it’ll make their skin look (and feel) greasier. However, this is not true. The fact is that heavier, oil-based moisturizers may be too rich for those with oily skin; more rich based moisturizers need to be lighter in weight. The fact that hydration is still necessary regardless of your skin type is always prominent. When your skin becomes dehydrated, it may actually become extra oily to make up for the lack of natural moisture as well as to protect. with that being said not providing the hydration can contribute to blemishes and make large pores more obvious.
The key is to find a moisturizer that provides lightweight hydration without weighing down your skin. We recommend The ESSENTIAL MOISTURIZER, a powerfully soothing, conditioning, and fast-absorbing cream that feels light and comforting while providing a natural radiance to the skin. The weightless, non-comedogenic formula absorbs quickly and softens the skin. It also helps visibly reduce shine and minimizes the appearance of enlarged pores over time, giving way to a fresher, more balanced appearance.
Tip #4:
Exfoliate Regularly
One of the easiest, most effective, and Common ways to address large pores is by exfoliating. Regular exfoliation helps remove the excess oil, dirt, and dead skin that can contribute to clogged pores. It also helps reduce existing congestion, promoting a smoother, more refined appearance. As with anything, though, balance is key: Over-exfoliating can leave your skin dry, sensitized, and irritated; this can make existing skin concerns worse.
To reap the benefits of exfoliation without damaging your skin, we recommend incorporating one of two exfoliants. MICRODERMABRASION CREAM into your weekly skincare routine. The microdermabrasion cream is a powerful face scrub containing microfine particles that will not irritate delicate skin tissue. It immediately smooths and refines the skin, while continued use helps visibly reduce enlarged pores and hyperpigmentation for a more even appearance over time. You can use this highly effective facial scrub up to three times per week on your face, neck, and chest—just be sure to replenish your skin with moisturizer after each use.
Tip #5:
Use Salycylic Acid
Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid, salicylic acid is also more oil-soluble (capable of being dissolved), which makes it easier to penetrate into the pores of the skin. Salicylic acid can penetrate deep into the pores of the skin to change the way the skin cells are bound.
I like to think of the our BHA SERUM as pac man to the pores eating away at all the the congestion inside of the pores and hair follicles that cause them to enlarge.
